I been craving some good oxtail and curried goat. So I bought both, because I can always just reheat the leftovers. There's enough for 3 meals here easy! The curried goat was excellent. The rice and beans were solid - nothing too fancy there. The Mac and cheese was not my style - I like it creamy, and this wasn't. The oxtail was perfect. No notes. Gotta say, the plantains were surprisingly flavorful. I am not the biggest plantain person, but I could have taken a box of those out. I also had a beef empanada, because the Argentinean empanada I had last night elsewhere was busted, and I needed a GOOD empanada to "cleanse the palette", and Aretha's did just that. There are some other reviews that complain about price. I felt I got exactly what I paid for. I was very happy, and will definitely be back.
It was my first time going there today I got the Rasta pasta … I’d say I’d give it a 6.5 it was not as spicy as I thought I would’ve been but more creamy and I was totally disappointed!!! … got a medium size for it and it was $40!!!! Like wow 😮. I don’t think I’ll be going back there
What a find! As I read through the menu, I decided on Jerk Pork, I saw the options for sides and instead of choosing just one, my order came with all three! Great flavor with some spice! I will be back!
I’ve been here twice and the food was great every time! The workers are very kind. Portions are very big, I’ve ordered a small and a medium and both sizes will definitely fill you up. The jerk chicken and oxtail have great flavor.
New to the area, this was the first Jamaican spot I tried and I’m happy to say it did not disappoint. I ordered the stew chicken (pictured) and the red peas soup, and both were delicious and authentically prepared. The service was fine, nothing exceptional but not bad either. Seating available inside. Will definitely be back.
This is the spot for authentic Jamaican food. Food is consistently good and warm. The porridge on Saturdays is awesome and red peas soup on Saturday is rich and delicious. Inside can be a bit noisy sometimes so not necessarily the best place for dining in. Natural juice is often available along with the intermittent Jamaican delicacies such as peanut drops, gizzada and bun & cheese. The curried goat and fried chicken are usually my go to. For breakfast, ackee and saltfish with boiled food is a great option.
The food is consistently delicious. I love their soup of the day and their porridge which if I can I would get every day. I highly recommend this restaurant.
I would not recommend at all. This place could definitely do better. Customer is umm…an acquired taste. They definitely could use some customer service training. I got to the restaurant and no one was at the front, waited for 5min or so and then started asking if anyone is back there. The lady came out and said “someone will be with you”. The person that came out had a RBF and ask what I wanted and then walked away from me while talking to her to go talk to someone else, multitasking,…ok no. Then I gave my order (Medium oxtail and Ackee & Saltfish W rice n beans) and usually they ask what I wanted for sides. She didn’t. I got my order and came home and open dish and it had a small portion of oxtail (4pieces exactly & 1 was mostly bone), there was a Lot of cabbage and a tiny piece of Mac n cheese. Both came up to $29+. I was seriously disappointed in the price, their mannerism and the food, the food was salty.
